    Your non-immigrant visa number is the "number in red" (usually only number in red) on visa stamp that is usually in bottom right corner.

    Arent you allowed to apply for OPT only after you express ur desire to "graduate"?
    if that is the case that means you have completed ur studies.
    The other option would be enroll for a second MS...and try to go find a job on CPT?

    i would not travel out on a OPT...
    if you really want to travel...travel when ur F1 is valid.

    My F1 visa (I got 2 yr student visa for Fall 2007) expires in May 2009. I applied for OPT and starting date is June 1st 2009. Since my F1 visa stamping is expiring, what is my possibility of visiting India after May ’09? Is there any possibility of extending my F1 Visa for another couple of yrs without leaving the country and continue on my OPT? Or any other suggestions? Please help me..

    in how many days did u get EAD approved.
    i applied (efile )in the second week of may done with FP and got CPO mail on 28th june , till now no approval mail or EAD Card

    did u get Approval mail before getting actual EAD Card?

    No new PIO card is required unless 15 yrs is up. Get it endorsed with the new passport # on your PIO card from the embassy/consulate.

    My case: Perm Approved, I140 approved last year, long wait for I485. I have (had) 3 years extension till 2013

    My company's lawyer was supposed to revoke H1 of say (name changed) Venkatesh Natarajan and they by mistake revoked mine because of similarity of name(Vedant Narayanan). This happened in July and got approved in August (see below for details). The day my company got to know a wrong employee's H1 was revoked they filed for reinstatement.


    Here are the chronological events

    Date on which my H1 revocation notice was sent to USCIS: 7/28/2010

    Date on which USCIS agreed to revoke my H1: USCIS says they got our letter of revocation on 8/15/2010, but their letter was dated 9/27/2010

    Date when my employer was informed by lawyer's office about revocation: 10/24/2010

    Date when my company filed for reinstatement of my H1, with pre-paid FedEx packet for USCIS to use with a reply: 10/25/2010. The USCIS has not responded to this letter.

    Currently the action being taken is that they are in a process to file a new H1B as a backup, if USCIS doesn't reply to the letter or if they say that revocation process can't be undone.


    I read about this nunc-pro-tunc provision. Do you think my new premium H1B should be filed with the nunc-pro-tunc provision? So that my new H1 is backdated from the day it was revoked.

This provision does not require an immigrant petition or labor certification to have been filed on or before any particular date and there is also no penalty fee involved.


    Will this 180 days 245(k) clause help me in anyway?

    How should we tackle this situation. Is there any other options that we can try, any phone number we can call? Any way we can ask USCIS to undo the revocation? Any suggestions/pointers appreciated.

    I have received FP notices both for my wife and myself for both 485 & 765. Code 3 ,2 . The question is :I dont know how FP process works. My wife has very smooth and sweaty hands. When i applied for Canadian immigration during FBI FP process even after n no. of attempts we couldnt get good prints on FP Sheet using INK. Ofcourse through speaking with Canadian Consulate they gave her an exemption over this. Now many of my friends have informed me that FP process is Electronic is this true?

    I think she has no problem with electronic FP as US consulate could take her FP's when initially she went for H4 in i ndia. please comment.

    You do not need EAD as your have GC. You can stay and work using your GC. EAD is required while your GC is under process.

    I think we need reform. Current H1B system is employer dependant and make us slave. There should be more breathing space.

    I agree with 100%. I am stuck in this glut for last 7 years.. it is quite frustrating

    It will never happen here. Even if it does happen, it will still have an annual quota, which would lead to priority dates.
